About Curtis Blake Photography

Greetings, and  welcome to the Curtis Blake Photography website.

Our desire is that the images on this site will bless and inspire you.

Curtis Blake a native of Cleveland, Ohio was bitten by the photography bug at a very early age. Winning a camera in a local contest, he started taking lots of pictures of his relatives and friends. Getting their positive feed back and encouragement started him on a path which has been truly rewarding. After getting his first real camera, a "Brownie Hawkeye" and learning how to develop his own film, his enthusiasm for photography really soared. He was “hooked on photography.”

While in Jr high school during spring break, he was approached by a christian publishing company to supply pictures and write an article to document the ministry trip that his group was taking in Ohio and Indiana. This led to having his first photos published nationally. Later he was named the official photographer for his high school newspaper. An answer to prayer. Photographing such a wide variety of fun and exciting activities and events in high school helped to lay a great foundation for his ongoing advancement and direction in photography.

Even while in college he continued learning, advancing, and sharpening his photographic skills.  After college he joined a well known camera club to learn more and grow.  During this period of growth he went on to win a regional photography contest, and the winning entries were displayed at The Cleveland Museum of Art. Though not originally for sale one of the prints was sought after and later sold to a persistent admirer of his work. That was truly exciting!  Encouraged by these achievements he worked his way up to Field Trip Director, Photo Instructor, and later President of The Karamu Camera Guild in Cleveland, Ohio.

Curtis later moved to Columbus Ohio where he spent several years working in sales and marketing and continued to study and grow in photography, doing numerous freelance assignments for other studios and businesses. During this time Curtis Blake Photography was formed. After many years of success and fulfillment, and with prayerful consideration he made the decision to move to New Bern, North Carolina. This new location affords him a milder climate, access to abundant waterways for boating, and many scenic areas to photograph.  Now the groundwork is being laid to establish and expand the Curtis Blake Photography enterprise in eastern North Carolina to the glory of God.
